En vecka i Alabama

Det tog ungefär tre minuter innan jag på allvar förstod att någonting var annorlunda. Vi hade precis satt oss i bilen från Atlantas flygplats, på väg mot Mises Institute i Auburn, Alabama. Under några månader hade jag plöjt igenom texter för Mises University 2014 och smått funderat på hur det skulle vara, vilka sorters människor som skulle vara där, vad som skulle hända och några hundra andra saker. Spänd och nyfiken är orden som bäst beskriver känslan.

Buenos Aires - Alcohol Around the Clock

Puerto Madero 10.05 – In the smooth morning breeze there are two firmly-dressed gentlemen seated at a café. It’s a fancy one, with large French-style windows and grandeur decorations. They’re sharing a bottle of wine, plainly conversing over whatever subject wealthy businessmen might converse. They look out over the impressive skyscrapers of Buenos Aires while sipping their excellent wine. Proper.

Tusentals människor samlades nyligen framför kongressen i Argentinas huvudstad Buenos Aires för att demonstrera mot det paket av lagförändringar som landets president presenterat gällande rättsväsendet, varav ett handlar om hur representanter i Högsta Domstolen ska tillsättas.

Valle del Uco and the Walk of Shame

Valle de Uco, or the ‘Uco Valley’, has over the last decade become the great center of Argentinian Wines. Here, beneath the glimmering sun of the province of Mendoza, between the hills to the east and the snowy Andes to the west, is a flat valley filled with grapes. If not for the carefully planted trees around the impressively big vineyards, the entire valley would be an ocean of well-ordered grapes. Architects, international wine business and century-old traditions are gathered in the same valley to produce the immense amount of grapes that have put Mendoza on the map.

Det är inte utan att man blir förundrad över hur enkelt en avreglering av alkoholmonopolet låter i Moderata ungdomsförbundet i Lunds alkoholpolitiska inlägg i Lundagård.
Tydligen är det bara att bomma igen systemet, flytta flaskorna till mataffärerna och hålla tummarna för att det funkar. Lätt som en plätt ju!
